AfriStack and ActivSpaces have hosted a 3day women-only Bootcamp in Buea. The summer Bootcamp which started, Wednesday, 4th October and ended, Friday, 6th October 2017 took place at ActivSpaces Buea, bringing together 26 young women from different parts of Cameroon

The aim of the bootcamp was to train young African women in entrepreneurship. Moreover, it has been a tradition for AfriStack in “Hacking the African experience”, to visit different African countries and train young women in entrepreneurship. This year’s country was Cameroon and it happened in Buea.

During the 3day bootcamp, young women were schooled on how they can build their own start ups, their businesses and how to make them grow. That was why trainers like Elodie Nonga and Nadine Boudjieka and Tony Poenou, who doubles as the Fonder of AfriStack spoke lengthily on the Lean Model Canvas, Business Model Canvas, Target marketing , communication, segmentation and idea pitching.

Participants were also thought how to pitch Business ideas. According to the founder of AfriStack, Tony Poenou, entrepreneurs/start ups must know how to pitch their ideas to a jury and potential investors. He added that most businesses/start ups do not gain traction their owners do not know how to market the ideas to others. Pitching in this context is presenting your business idea in a convincing way that will attract investors to buying your idea and supporting you.

Pitching was one of the key business languages participants at the bootcamp learnt. That was why participants formed four groups with each working on a business idea which they pitched to a jury on the last day.

For the three days that participants attended the bootcamp, a change could be seen as knowledge and skills on business were acquired.
