Instructables is a web-based community and documentation platform where passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from and collaborate with others. The seeds of Instructables germinated at the MIT Media Lab as the future founders of Squid Labs built places to share their projects and help others.
Recently, Laura Khalil, the Tech and Workshop editor at Instructables.com, reached out to us to help our members share their projects and generally support our hackerspace in Cameroon. This includes free Instructables Pro accounts (a $25/year value) for our members, free geotargeted ads to boost awareness of ActivSpaces and Instructables promotional goodies (who doesn’t love stickers and patches?).
As part of their Epilog Challenge, our members are eligible to win a laser cutter and shop tools, and can participate in future contests to compete for prizes like a MakerBot 3D printer and other tools to properly outfit a hackerspace.
A big thanks to Instructables for spreading this goodwill to the global hacker/makerspace community and fostering this new friendship! Watch this blog for future updates on projects that emerge from our space.
